How is this calculated?

Snapchat ad revenue share

Snapchat's unified Monetization Program (launched Feb 1, 2025; see Snap Newsroom) replaced Spotlight Rewards, which ended on January 31, 2025. Eligible creators earn an ad-revenue share across both Stories and Spotlight videos (Spotlight videos must be at least 30 seconds long). Snap doesn't publish a per-view rate, so this calculator uses $0.10–$0.30 / 1K views, the newest dated estimate. The formula:

Calculation

monthly_views = avg_views_per_post × posts_per_month

estimated_payout = monthly_views × $0.10 to $0.30 / 1000

Third-party estimates vary widely: ShortSync (August 2026, from creator reports) puts the typical Spotlight rate at $0.10–$0.30 per 1,000 views, while Syllaby (May 2025) said $1–$5. This calculator uses the newer 2026 range, so read its result as a typical figure, not a ceiling: ShortSync's own table goes up to $0.60 for US high-CPM niches. For comparison, YouTube Shorts pays $0.01–$0.07 per 1K and the legacy TikTok Creator Fund paid $0.02–$0.04 per 1K.

What does that rate mean for a typical creator? Our Spotlight earnings reality check applies it to median views from 4,040 creator accounts, next to Snap's 30-second and follower rules.

Sponsorship value

Per-post sponsorship rates use industry-standard CPM multipliers from Influencer Marketing Hub, scaled by subscriber tier:

  • Mega (1M+): $0.005–$0.012 per subscriber
  • Mid (100K–1M): $0.008–$0.015 per subscriber
  • Micro (10K–100K): $0.01–$0.02 per subscriber
  • Below 10K subs: typically no organic sponsorship floor

An account never gets less than one just below its tier would, so crossing 100K or 1M subscribers never lowers the estimate.

Important caveats

  • Historical context: If you've read older blog posts citing $0.02–$0.04 per 1K, those refer to the dead Spotlight Fund (2020–2022) or its transitional successor Spotlight Rewards (2022–Jan 2025); Tubefilter covered the shutdown. Even at the 2026 creator-reported rates above, the current program pays 2.5 to 15 times more per view than the old fund.
  • RPM still fluctuates monthly with total platform view volume and ad-fill rates.
  • Sponsorship rates depend heavily on niche (beauty/finance/fitness command premium CPMs), audience demographics, brand fit, and negotiating leverage.
  • You must be in the Snapchat Monetization Program to earn ad revenue share, so check eligibility first.
  • This calculator omits: brand deals beyond the per-post range above, and any private agreements with Snap or brands, which are not published.
