How is this calculated?

Snapchat ad revenue share

Snapchat's unified Monetization Program (launched Feb 1, 2025 — see Snap Newsroom) replaced the dead Spotlight Fund. Eligible creators earn an ad-revenue share across both Stories and Spotlight videos (≥1 min). Snapchat's own creator documentation cites roughly $1 per 1,000 views as a directional benchmark, with most creators landing in the $0.5–$1.5 / 1K views range. The formula:

Calculation

monthly_views = avg_views_per_post × posts_per_month

estimated_payout = monthly_views × $0.5 to $1.5 / 1000

The $0.50–$1.50 figure is the contemporary ad-revenue-share benchmark cited by Syllaby and Snapchat's own help docs (~$1 per 1,000 views directional). For comparison, YouTube Shorts pays $0.01–$0.07 per 1K and the legacy TikTok Creator Fund paid $0.02–$0.04 per 1K — the current Snap program is significantly more generous than the dead Spotlight Fund (2020–2024) was at its peak.

Sponsorship value

Per-post sponsorship rates use industry-standard CPM multipliers from Influencer Marketing Hub, scaled by subscriber tier:

  • Mega (1M+): $0.005–$0.012 per subscriber
  • Mid (100K–1M): $0.008–$0.015 per subscriber
  • Micro (10K–100K): $0.01–$0.02 per subscriber
  • Below 10K subs: typically no organic sponsorship floor

Important caveats

  • Historical context: If you've read older blog posts citing $0.02–$0.04 per 1K, those refer to the dead Spotlight Fund (2020–2022) or its transitional successor Spotlight Rewards (2022–Jan 2025) — Tubefilter covered the shutdown. The current program pays roughly 25–75× more per view.
  • RPM still fluctuates monthly with total platform view volume and ad-fill rates.
  • Sponsorship rates depend heavily on niche (beauty/finance/fitness command premium CPMs), audience demographics, brand fit, and negotiating leverage.
  • You must be in the Snapchat Monetization Program to earn ad revenue share — check eligibility first.
  • This calculator omits: Snapchat+ subscription revenue share, Snap Star retainers (paid only to top "hero" talent), and gifting income. Top creators like Kylie Jenner earn the bulk of their Snapchat income from undisclosed talent deals, not RPM-based ad share.
